Charlie has got his CHIC (Canine Health Information Center) number from the OFA (Orthopedic Foundation for Animals) after being submitted and approved on 10 OFA canines health screening tests, 9 of those tests being specific for the OES breed. However, we go beyond the requirements when it comes to health testing our breeding dogs. Among those health tests Charlie has been tested for, you will find BAER (congenital deafness), Hips Dysplasia, Elbows Dysplasia, Eyes (CAER), Thyroid, EIC (Exercise Induced Collapse), Cardiac Evaluation, Cerebellar Degeneration, Primary Ciliary Dyskinesia (PCD) and Multiple Drug Sensitivity (MDR1) and he is also genetic clear for over 240 canine diseases (including our breed specific ones). These health tests are the primary health tests that any and all breeders should perform on their parents dog before pairing them for breeding purposes. They are recommended by the OES parent club here in America. Also, a good breeder should have the results published publicly on the OFA website.
